Week 15 + 16 Progress


I didn't get a chance to post Week 15 because it was a slow week due to real-life stuff, so I'm adding it to Week 16. Lets get into it...

Week 15:

Basic Combat AI - Got a lot of the basic combat AI done and managed to get my dwarfs fighting a few rock elementals and some spiders. Its pretty basic, but its a good start.



Formation Grounds - What are formation grounds? Well, you have a Barracks that produces Dwarf Warriors, but where do they go? They go to stand on a Formation Ground. They stand there, in formation, until you deploy them to a target position.


Week 16:

I finished quite a few things this week. Happy with the progress. 


Error Feedback UI - shows you what the problem is when you try to perform an action you can't. Like trying to build a building with not enough gold.


Formation Flag Movement - you can right click to deploy a squad, and the flag moves to that position. Here it is, working, with checks so that you cant place the flag in a rock cube. 

Formation Preserving Movement  - so, the dwarfs all try to stay in formation as you move them. This, feels very good when you're moving units around in-game. 



Camera Zoom
- Honestly I don't know why I waited so long to add this feature. It really changes the way the game feels. You can see more and more detail as you zoom in. I think this will be super important for micro-managing fights. 

Game Guide - Lastly, I added an in-game guide section to help players/testers (mostly from this site) to play the game and understand the basics of the game, and the input controls. 



Next Week

Honestly I've got a ton of things left to work on. Going to spend the weekend figuring out what's next. Here's what I've got up on my board:
